Native in the Rockies and other alpine regions of North America and up into the Arctic, this demands a well-drained rock garden situation in lower altitudes. It forms a tuft of green leaves, with upright stems holding star-shaped white flowers with a tiny green eye. Blooms appear in mid spring. Nice for the rock garden, trough or wall. Plants are not easily divided but may self sow where happy.
